Kilt, a Berlin-based decentralized digital identity (DID) company, today announced a strategic redirection towards consumer-oriented products along with organizational growth. These modifications bring on an expanded team and advisory council. The company has focused on using a blockchain-based network to produce the most widely available, neutral form of DID and verifiable credential. In 2025, Frazgo will go beyond the Polkadot ecosystem with an entirely new suite of products. Further fueling this expansion is the Kilt Foundation, created earlier this year to fuel the company’s development with the energy and talent that foundation can bring.

Kilt Foundation and Clans App

To continue its development in the long term, earlier this year, Kilt set up the Kilt Foundation. We’ve made Kilt’s source code public on GitHub so anybody can use it, adding transparency and open access to Kilt’s resources. This foundation has been a backbone for Kilt’s innovative work, including its soon-to-launch projects.

Kilt’s first product release will be Clans, a mobile app that Kilt dubs an “InfoFi platform.” Clans aims to incentivize users by rewarding them for their time spent on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. The app is poised to launch in the next few weeks, representing Kilt’s first foray into the consumer application space.

2025 Product Suite

Beyond 2025, Kilt has already announced intentions to expand with a wide range of consumer and enterprise-facing products. These range from an identity super app aimed at making it easier to manage your digital identity. The planned suite includes a blockchain-enabled multi-party payment option as well as a decentralized alternative to DocuSign. This expansion significantly broadens Kilt’s attractiveness in multiple industries.

Our identity super app will use the full power of OpenID Connect (OIDC). We imagined this identity layer, built on the OAuth 2.0 protocol, inculcating users with Single Sign-On across all applications and platforms. With KILT-issued credentials, users can use various services with little effort and simple security without needing to lose the user experience or security. This technology further demonstrates Kilt’s primary goal to provide a space for user-centric, decentralized identity solutions.

Strategic Expansion

Kilt’s recent announcements are an important indicator that the project is making a strategic play outside of its early roots inside the Polkadot ecosystem. As a protocol for a decentralized digital identity company, Kilt has been mostly concentrating on creating DIDs and verifiable credentials in a blockchain. The company's expansion into consumer and enterprise products demonstrates its ambition to become a leading player in the broader digital identity landscape.

Kilt has already begun onboarding their team and advisory council. These new organizational moves further illustrate their deep commitment to ensure growth is managed sustainably while letting innovation flourish. The Kilt Foundation provides a solid bedrock to build on and a known path to the future evolution of products. With this backing, Kilt is poised to change the way people and businesses interact with their digital identities.
