We shouldn’t let ourselves be dazzled by the technological gold plate that often distracts us. I'm Ciara, and as someone steeped in the ancient tales of Ireland, I've learned that every seemingly magical innovation comes with a price.
The pitch is seductive: democratizing NFT creation. Lowering the barrier to entry. But who really benefits? Yes, thousands of new artists can potentially mint a thousand NFTs each, but will they actually cut through the noise? Will Grok AI’s algorithms actually encourage “performance”? If so, might they inadvertently promote certain styles, aesthetics, or creators who are already well-established?
Think about it. AI learns from data. What data is it learning from? The existing NFT market. As if things already weren’t tilted enough in favor of trends and creators in the current NFT market. Will Grok AI reinforce existing biases, for example? This would lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy, deepening inequality as the rich get richer and closing off new ideas from rising innovative voices.
Colle AI’s marketing claims of “smart contract execution” and “automated metadata generation” are purposefully misleading. Sounds efficient. But who controls that intelligence? Who defines the parameters? Both Colle AI and Grok AI have final say over the smart contracts and metadata. This begs the question of whether they could injure the market far more sublimely. Picture them targeting metadata to privilege certain NFTs, or using smart contract vulnerabilities to enrich themselves. It’s not decentralization, it’s centralization dressed up in a nicer package.
Are you excited about the tale of the Fir Bolg from Irish mythology. They were magicians of modernity, creating havens of protection and war machines that would never lose. Their overdependence on technology made them vulnerable. At the same time, the Tuatha Dé Danann connected themselves to the land’s deeper magic. Technology alone isn't enough. All you really need is wisdom, foresight and a profound knowledge of the implications.
Aside from pedagogical reasons, I’m not saying that Colle AI is evil. However, history is a graveyard of well-intentioned innovations that ended up causing unintended consequences.

Even taking proof-of-stake into account, the NFT ecosystem’s overall carbon footprint is still not a small matter to dismiss.
Are we truly prepared to trade in the health of the planet for a few more jpegs? It’s the equivalent of replacing a peat fire with a nuclear reactor to boil a kettle!
