The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has some great news! They’ve moved their highly anticipated roundtable on tokenization from June 6 to June 9. Current registrants have already been informed of the switch. The event has been spearheaded by Commissioner Hester M. Peirce and her Crypto Task Force. As they continue their work, they seek to better understand how their work in TradFi connects to opportunities with DeFi via tokenization.
The roundtable, titled "Tokenization: Moving Assets Onchain: Where TradFi and DeFi Meet," promises to be a pivotal discussion on the future of finance.
Key Participants and Opening Remarks
Richard B Gabbert, Chief of Staff of the Crypto Task Force will provide opening statements to start the event. Opening statements will be followed by a roundtable with Commissioner Paul S. Atkins and Commissioners Caroline A. Crenshaw and Mark T. Uyeda. Their participation serves to highlight the SEC’s desire to learn and inform the fast-developing field of digital assets.
Roundtable Sessions: Capital Markets 2.0 and The Future of Tokenization

Fidelity, BlackRock, Nasdaq, Invesco, Franklin Templeton, Apollo Management and DTCC are just some of the firms listed as participants. This session is sure to dive deep into how tokenization can help expedite and bring efficiencies to more traditional capital markets.
The second session, “The Future of Tokenization,” will get into the legal, technological and regulatory underpinnings of a tokenized finance. This episode aims to tackle the challenges and opportunities that come when assets move onto blockchain networks. The SEC's focus includes developing approaches for a blockchain-based securities framework, as demonstrated by the Crypto Task Force's earlier meeting with Ondo Finance.
Commissioner Peirce's Vision for Tokenization
One of the staunchest defenders of enabling, thoughtful regulation in the crypto space has been SEC commissioner Hester M. Peirce. Through her experience, she reveals the transformative power of tokenization.
